Snow DAYs and DAYs and DAYs

It's February in Texhoma and that means snow and ice.

Mom and I were at market this past weekend and made it home just before the weather took a HUGE turn for the worse.

Unlike last year we haven't had tons and tons but this time we got about 4+ inches of snow with lots of ice. The bad part has been that the temps just haven't melted this stuff. For the past 4 days our temps have been in the teens with negative wind chills. CRAZY!!! We don't function this way. School was canceled Tuesday-Friday. That means 4 days at home with the kids and Shad. Luckily I had gone to the grocery store just before I left for market so we were set. I have literally cooked and cooked and cooked. We are going to weigh 500lbs if this stuff doesn't melt off soon but I love getting to cook like this. We have watched about 300 movies and played game after game. We have learned a couple of new crafts and all of Emma's Valentines are ready to go. Here are some pics for the last couple of days.

Daddy makes a GREAT sled Dog!!!
(Wish I had some pics of Uncle DeDe taking the kids tubing. We didn't get to stay out very long because it was 9degrees and I thought we were going to FREEZE but we had a lot of fun in a short amount of time)

Henry LOVED rolling around in the snow. Every few minutes we would find him just rolling around in it...face then back then face...HE LOVED IT!!!

Emma was all about the snow angels but mostly because it was so cold and dry the snow wouldn't pack...that means no snow man or snow balls. Hopefully tomorrow we will be able to attempt the snowman again. It is going to be warm enough that the powder should melt down some. I know both the kids have their fingers crossed.

Well there has to be record that I was out there too!

Emma requested blue snow ice cream...then we added a couple of red sprinkles. Funny neither of my kids really ate all that much...but Shad and I loved it!

After exhausting all options we raided Alex's closet for new games and toys. We found Kerplunk and LOVED it. Henry really didn't get the concept...he just wanted all the marbles...

Thanks to a good friend Christy we were reminded about making our own crayons. And Aunt Lolly gave us these really cute heart cupcake holders. They are very flexible so we could just pop them right out after they cook.

So just in case you haven't seen this...peal your colors of choice and sort them into a muffin tin or muffin cups.

Melt at 265 for 15 minutes...just until the crayons lose their shape. Then set them out on the counter for 10 minutes so they start to set up..then move them to the freezer for 30 minutes. That way the wax sets up and shrinks a bit. Makes getting them out easier.

Here is what we ended up with. Emma loves them and they are really easy for Henry to hold onto. We have done this with EVERY crayon in the house now! OPPSSS!!!

Well I didn't do a good job of picturing all our yummy foods but here is dessert tonight...wait that is all we had tonight...Dessert for dinner..Caramel Apple Dumplings
(very easy and super yummy)

2 Alarm Chili
