Run for the Son

Belle (4) Gracie (7) Alex (11) Henry (10m) Caroline (8) Emma (5) and Jacob (4)

Run for the Son in a annual event at our church. Each year the church selects a different non-profit to help with the proceeds. 2009 benefits went to Whipers of Hope. The facility provides therapeutic horse riding at no cost to physically and mentally challenged youth, ages 2-19. Our goal was to raise $10,000 and we learned this Sunday that we did exceed that goal. During a recession no less. WAY TO GO. There were over 400 runners that participated in a 1 mile fun run/walk, a 5K and a 10K.
We did the 1 mile and counted it towards our 25 mile goal for Spirit of Survival. Which does happen to be on my birthday!!! We will just say it is a big birthday party for me.
I was so proud of our kiddo's they ran almost the entire thing. By the end it was hard for Henry and I to keep up. As they crossed the finish line each of them received a metal. They were so proud. This is a great event and everyone should plan on attending next year.
