McGaha Chili Cook "OUT"

Well as most of you already know the Red Hot Chi Omega Chili Cook Off is no more. I will begin this blog entry on my soap box. National Chi Omega will no long allow our chapter to put on the chili cook off because there was alcohol at the event. Even though last year we did get a 3rd party vendor. Last year's cook off was the most successful and the most tame. The Omicron Theta chapter has donated over $80,000 to the Make A Wish Foundation. Last year we raised $15,000. The agreement between national Chi Omega and national Make a Wish is that no moneys can be donated from the sell of alcohol. Since we had a 3rd party vendor we collected no money on the sale of alcohol nor would we. National Chi Omega knows this and will still not allow our event to continue they say that no Chi Omega event can have alcohol present. I know that TCU has an auction you better believe there is alcohol there. I know that there are other chapters that have golf tournaments. Have you ever been to a golf tourn. that didn't have beer? Didn't think so. We have been told that each event will be evaluated on case by case. We were also told that they would rather us only raise $1000 than have Chili Cook Off again. As you can tell I am BITTER! We grew this event for 12 years. It taught the girls alot about team work, philanthropy, fundraising, etc. We will forever miss it.

I really wish we could have been there. We need to put it in our calendar early for the 2nd Annual Mcgaha Chili Cookoff. Looks like it was a lot of fun!
