Training began at 8:00am this morning. Shad took the girls on a half mile run. Afterwards he realized they could have gone further but he wants to work up to it. Not to mention he had just ran 4 miles himself. He is back in training mode.
For months we have discussed the importance of teaching our children about being healthy. As most of you know Shad and I joined Weight Watchers 2 1/2 years ago. Shad lost 120lbs and has run 2 half marathons and 1 full marathon. I lost 65lbs and we continue to work out 5 days a week. (With the exception of the BABY sabbatical) We will begin again as soon as the baby is born. I am so looking frwd to it. Anyway Shad found this marathon in Lawton "Spirit of Survival" A big part of it is education on Childhood Obesity. There is actually a full marathon for kids to do. They run 25-1 mile runs before the marathon and then on the day of they run 1 mile to complete their marathon.
Our girls were so excited when Shad told them about it. They wanted to start immediately. You know they are just looking for a way to be involved in everything we do. This will give us the opportunity to help them lead a healthy life. I will keep you all updated on our progress.
Here is the web address for the kids info
Here is the web address for the marathon itself. (Shad will also be running the half here)
We hope some of you can join us.

We are thinking about doing this with Blair too! She ran a 2k last weekend and loved it. I am sure she would think a real Daddy race would be awesome.
Thanks for the links! maybe we can all get together on this one!
