1/2 Birthday Party

At Young Ages when you have a summer birthday we celebrate you 1/2 birthday. This past week was Henry's turn. And he couldn't wait for Spider Man to make a debut at his snack time celebration.

TGS Cupcakes made these AMAZING red velvet Spider Man cupcakes for Henry. You should have seen his face when we went to pick them up that morning. He was so excited!!! Thanks TGS you ladies did a GREAT job!

JoJo and Daddy both got to come and help us celebrate!

That's right. I think I have blogged this before but it is so funny I have to make sure. One day when we walked into school Henry looked up and said "Mama...I can't handle all these ladies" But it looks like he is doing a pretty good job.

We had a great time and Henry will now tell everyone who asks that he is 3 1/2 and almost 4.

Shad and Emma get away for some quality time!!

Shad and Emma got an invitation to go on a Father/Kid Ski Trip. With all the changes around here lately we decided that a get away for Shad and Emma was a GREAT idea!!!

Emma and Shad road with Brad and Libby Featherston. The girls had a great time riding together. On their first day they were both signed up for ski school. Libby had a little more experience so she was off to the top of the mountain. Emma spent the day on the bunny slope learning the basics.

Aren't they CUTE snow bunnies.

Here is Emma with Miss. Elizabeth. by the end of the day Emma was really doing great. As soon as ski school was over daddy took Emma to the baby bunny run and then moved up to the big bunny run. I am so proud of Emma's perseverance. She worked so hard to do well and didn't give up.

It was just later the next day that Emma made it all the way to the top of the mountain. She skied and skied all day. Shad said he had to drag her off the mountain in the evening.

They did have to take a break or two for Hot Chocolate and snacks.

In the evenings the entire group of 35 ate dinner at different restaurants in town. Then they would walk back to the hotel for games/TV/ and good fun together.

These are precious memories made for Emma and Shad. I am so happy that they were able to go!!!

Going to the Lodge....

This was the best idea ever. We had so much fun with our family and friends at the Great Wolf Lodge. I was too afraid to take my camera into the water park but I will get some pictures from Rachelle.

The kids and the adults had the very best time playing together...and when it got time for dinner we headed to the room for a quick shower and to get on our PJ's to PARTY!!!

The 1st party we hit was in the conference room. There was face painting, balloon animals, movies, and carnival games.

Next we headed up to the 5th floor for a karaoke Party and Puppet Show. Our kids were Dance Machines!!!!

Henry got his break dance ON!!! He was actually pretty good.

After the party on the 5th floor there was a HUGE dance party in the lobby. We danced and sang and danced. Henry and Belle didn't quite make it to midnight but the rest of us partied on.

The next day we went back to the water park all morning and afternoon. It was the best New Years ever. I hope we repeat it again next year.

Lets End the Year in Style

A few months ago the Son's family asked The Welchs, The Coopers, and us if we would like to celebrate New Years at the Great Wolf Lodge...what a GREAT idea.

We decided to go down 1 night early and check out the Gaylord and Shrek on Ice. We have been before and couldn't wait to check out the decorations and the show.

The Giant Gingerbread house is always a favorite of ours. It is so cool...I must admit it had been snacked on a little...and that is just NASTY!!!!

This year Santa's reindeer were dressed up and placed all over the lobby. We had a great time finding them all.

This is Comet.

Henry is in LOVE with trains... especially ones that go all by themselves. He watched this forever!!! Our favorite train was the teal train. The houses mimicked down town Grapevine and most were made out of Gingerbread also.

Have I mentioned that I love my new camera and the cool tricks I can do with it.

Emma waited very patiently with her daddy while Henry drooled over the trains.

Shad liked Comet too!!!

Alex is too Funny...well at least she and I think she is...

The Gaylord has such a beautiful path outside and the weather was prefect. I got alot of great shots of our kiddo's.

And the ICE slide...Henry was a little hesitant at first but once I got him up there we couldn't get him to stop. All the girls LOVED it. I think we went 4 times before we all decided we were might lose a finger or toe to frost bite if we didn't find the exit soon.

After ICE we had some time to kill before dinner so we continued our reindeer search. While we were looking we found this amazing replica of the Gaylord. TOO COOL!!!!

Since the Welchs and Burgers hadn't seen all the reindeer we had to take them back around. On the way to dinner. We had a great Mexican meal and called it a night.

This is why we always request rooms close together.

The next morning after breakfast...the hunt was back on before we had to check out and head over to the Great Wolf Lodge.

After check out we had sometime before we could hit the Lodge...

Shad had the great idea of going to Bass Pro. It was perfect because they had a stocked tank and poles ready for the kids. We got over an hour of fishing in. Belle was the only lucky one that day but it was so much fun.

Now lets get on over to the Lodge and ring in the New Year.

We could hardly wait for Alex to get home to us...not only to unwrap our presents but because we were missing her so much.

As soon as she walked in the door Emma and Henry took her stocking to her and the boots Santa had left. They were so excited!

Santa even brought Alex a Slushy Magic too!!!

Each year when we open at our house we take turns and take time to watch each and enjoy each other.

Binkie got Henry the Batman Lego's he had so been wanting. He is so much fun to watch open and is truly grateful for everything he gets. He always said thank you before he even opens the presents.

Big Family Christmas

Big Family Christmas

That is what we have every year. My family is big, loud, funny, amazing. For years now Christmas has been at my Aunt Gretta and Uncle Larry's house. We lost my wonderful Uncle this year and this maybe our last Christmas at this house. We were all in attendance (with the exception of Alex) and it was a great celebration.

Each year we take a picture in front of mom and dad's Christmas tree...I am not sure what started it but I sure loves these pictures. Just missing our Alex this year. I am so proud of my beautiful family and the blessings of this season.

Schmidt McGaha Christmas

Schmidt McGaha Christmas is one of the highlights to our Christmas festivities. This year it was the Schmidt's turn to host us. I could hardly contain Henry and Emma they were so excited.

We were greeted at the door by a very excited IVey as well.

J and Frank fixed a YUMMY YUMMY dinner...complete with cheesy chicken noodles J found on Pinterest...our new obsession.

Are these not the 2 cutest boys. And so sweet...they played so well together.

Pretty Emma loved playing with Rylie and the boys...she did miss her big sis, though...we all did.

Rylie was the first to open her present and boy was she excited.

While she loved her outfit, brother's box was much more fun!!!

Emma got bendaroo's. She has wanted them forever.

Smore's was a huge hit after we finished our gift opening.

Well if you haven't heard by now Alex is living with us full time. We are so happy to have her. She is such a delight (except when you have to wake her up) She has alot of catching up to do in school so for the last 3 weeks we have done nothing but homework...SERIOUSLY!!!

Her grades have DRAMATICALLY improved and we couldn't be prouder of her. This weekend we completed a replica of DNA-Complete with 20 Hydrogen Base Pairs each with their Hydrogen Bonds...OH ya...we are back in Bio 1. Alex really needed this extra credit and we have GOT to teach her you have to do whatever it takes...go the extra MILE!!!!

Oh doesn't she look happy!!!

Surprise Visit

I can't believe these are the only pictures I got this weekend. Mitzi, Chuck, Breigh, Brook, Landry, and Lyla surprised us with a quick visit. Our kids had the best time together...we crafted, did homework, cooked and even went to a basketball game. It was a quick visit but so much fun!!!!

PS. Henry is in LOVE with Landry...June bug may have some competition...and no he doesn't understand that they are cousins.

Lyla of course fell for Shad...throughout the game she kept giving the sign for more...begging for nerds that the other kids were eating. I am pretty sure Shad slipped her a few!!!

A Hunting She Will Go

Who would have thought my pretty little princess would turn out to LOVE hunting. I just knew the 1st time she went would also be her last...but boy was I wrong. She LOVES it. So much so that she asked for a Bow for Christmas. Not a Bow for her hair but like a Bow and Arrow to go hunting with. She has gone every time daddy has gone. She is quiet and loves to watch the animals. I am so impressed with Emma and how well rounded she is.

We have so much to be Thankful for this year. Our family, our health, our jobs, our children's salvation, and the list goes on and on.

We had a wonderful family day. We slept in a little, cooked, watched the parade, and headed over to Lolly and Dede's to be with everyone.

New Thanksgiving tradition

Uncle DeDe fired up the smoker on thanksgiving eve and we cooked up a storm. We all had such a great time playing outside and babysitting our birds. We also smoked some steaks, pork tenderloin, sausage, and ribs. Oh ya!!!! This is the way to cook!!! Since the kids were not as excited as we were about all the meat-we smoked some marshmallows for s'mores. Yummy!!!! From now on no more oven turkeys for us!!!

So many memories came flooding back when we attended Henry's Thanksgiving Feast at Young Ages. Just look at all the beautiful crafts he made for the table.

Before he got to sit down his class sang a few Thanksgiving songs. Well Henry didn't sing a lick but his class did.

At least we got a GREAT smile!!!

This is Jody. Her mommy and daddy couldn't come so she sat with us and Emma helped her out. She is Henry's best friend at Young Ages and her big brother is in Emma's class at school.

Our family had a wonderful time at Henry's Feast!

Tibia Tortion

Henry woke up Sunday morning with a hurt leg!!! He had trouble walking all day. At first we all thought it was growing pains but when it didn't subside the next day I decided to take him in just to double check. Turns out he had splintered his Tibia. We have no idea how or when this happened but we were told it was probably him just being a boy!!! No cast and should heal up in 2 weeks. We would have to go in for a follow up x-ray just to make sure he was healing correctly!

Henry was so good. He really impressed the techs!

He also thought the picture is his bones was too cool!!!!

Chips for Charity

This year's Christmas Magic Auction-Chips for Charity was so much fun. I mean really REALLY fun. Great Food/Great Music/Great Friends/Great Auction Items...and a Casino to boot. I can't wait for next year!!!!

So happy that Charisse came into town and went with us. It has been months and months since we have gotten to see each other. LOVE YOU!!!!

Christmas Magic

It's that time of year again!!! Christmas MAGIC!!! We love it!!! Aunt Lolly was the chairman this year along with Emily Arens and the entire market was wonderful. We absolutely had the best time. One of our favorite parts is the children's events. This year the entertainment committee really changed this event up. We started with Mrs. Claus reading us Polar Express.

Henry was so glad JoJo was there!

We got to sit next to the Whitmire clan...These kids are so cute and so well behaved!

Henry loved the decorations.

After the story we moved on to the caroling room. Our kids love to sing and dance.

So did Charlotte, Maggie, and Henry.

JoJo got into it too!!!

Duke and Ruth got their groove on.

After singing we made a Christmas Ornament. That is my kids favorite part.

And we finished it up with coloring, a snack and of course SANTA!!!!

This was the best Children's Event yet. I am so glad my kids are still into this.

Halloween Night

Trunk or Treat

A new tradition began for our church this year and our entire small group signed up to help out. We had over 800 people from our community show up to Trunk-or-Treat. It was so much fun. We all decorated our cars/passed out candy/and played games.

Riley thought this was so much fun.

Emma thought it was fun too!!!

I love how all out so many of our friends went!

Great idea Colonial. We were happy to be a part and cannot wait to see what everyone has planned for next year!

Fall Soccer 2011-Go Kixie Chicks

We had another GREAT season.

We are so lucky to have Shad and Meagan coach our team. This is their 5th season together and these girls really have it together. I couldn't be prouder of them.

After we won our first game Coach Shad promised the girls he would wear a skirt to the next game we played. Well he made good on his promise!

Halloween Hayride

This years trip to the pumpkin patch was canceled due to the drought. So instead we took the kids on a wonderful hayride around the neighborhood searching for pumpkins.

We had a such a great time singing and looking at all the neat decorations.

Then on Halloween we did a trick or treating parade to the office and other classrooms. Spider man was a huge hit with all the ladies.

And finished off with a cute craft and a few good books.

The Iron Man Strikes Again

It's that time of year again...IRON MAN TIME!!!

We grabbed Emma from school just after 10am and headed to Austin. We were all so excited!!!

We checked into the hotel, played and shopped at the Iron Man exhibit, and went to the bike shop.

Henry was so excited to see this train outside of the bike shop.

I feel like all we did was eat for 4 days. LOL!!!

The first night we ate at Green Mesquite Grill...I kid you not...best Ribs and Brisket I have ever eaten. And of course Amy's Ice Cream

Then the next day after the bike shop stop we at at Flips Happy Crepes..WOW!!!

After the crepes it was off to Austin Park for some Go Carts, Tea Cups, and Putt Putt. We knew the kids needed to have some fun before a long race day.

That night we ate at Cheesecake Factory so daddy could carb up...

and yes we finished off with some Amy's Ice Cream!!!

The next morning came EARLY. We drove Shad to the race and then slept for an hour in the car. He had to get "marked up" and there was no need in us being there yet.

Once I woke Henry up we jumped on the bus and headed to the swim start. Emma was such a HUGE help!!! I had to load the stroller on the back of the bus and she took Henry to get on. Such a good big sister.

Again this year, the weather was perfect. Isn't this just beautiful. Shad didn't seem as nervous as last year...We were all REALLY EXCITED!!!!!

We also had some friends in the race: Todd Davenport, Joe Wurster, and Danny Clark. Here comes Todd!!!

I knew how long Shad's swim should take....but he KILLED IT...by 4 minutes. I was messing with my new camera when he ran by...This is him saying Hey...I did it!!!! and laughing at the SHOCK on my face.

After he ran by Emma grabbed the picnic blanket and yelled RUN!!! She wanted to catch up to him so badly.

We ran up the hill and made it to the perfect spot to watch Shad start his bike ride. ...and he's OFF!!!!

While daddy was out on the bike ride we took the bus back over to transition area 2. There was a great bounce house, a HUGE bus with XBox and Wii games and a craft table.

We played and played

and PLAYED!!!!! until it was time to run over and see daddy transition from bike to run.

Again...he KILLED his bike time...I think it was almost 15 min faster!!!! WOW!!! That's my Iron Man!!!

Now the run....that wasn't as much fun. Shad hurt his foot on mile 2 and if you know him...there is no giving up. He ran another 11 miles in PAIN!!!

What's the end of the story....He Finished...in one piece and no trip to the medical tent this year!!!

1st 5K Spirit of Survival

So about 10 weeks ago I started the couch to 5K program. My bestie Bobo has asked me to do the Disney 1/2 Marathon with her in 2013. Our boys are going to do the Goofy...1/2 one day and a full the next.

While I may have been working out for a long time...I DON'T run...never have. I have some friends who have tried the couch to 5k and loved it...so I gave it a shot...while I can't say I love it...I can say I did it. And I am going to keep running. I may not make it to the 1/2 but I do love the work out I get with running.

Shad has been the most amazing encourager to me. He is such a great source of support and information. He is my greatest cheerleader. (next to Henry) He signed us up to do the Spirit of Survival 5K. He and Henry ran with me (Henry actually ran LOT of the 5K...maybe next year we will sign him up to run with us) Thank you to my family and friends for your loving support.

Taylor Swift...we are Fearless!

After the soccer game and taking Haley home and having lunch and doing some shopping we came home for a nap...or wait....let's go see Taylor Swift...ya that is a WAY better idea...

So that is just what we did...bought some tickets online-woke the kids up early- and jumped in the car. BOY were they excited!!!!

We didn't have much time so we went straight to the arena, grabbed some concession stand grub, some cool new T-Shirts, and waited!!!!

Alex you totally rock for remembering that glow stick for Henry...and you are right...he can't read and he never knew it said Miley Cyrus.

I think Henry was just as excited as the girls....

Henry did get a little restless so daddy took him up to this landing so he could have a little more dancing room.

Can you believe these sets!!!! WOW!!! I couldn't believe all the changes. We have been to so many concerts but this was by far the best!!!!

Taylor even walked through the entire crowd to get to the back of the arena and sing to the back part of the crowd...so special.

Ok can you see the dancers that look like they are jumping...well they are but what you can tell is that they just jumped out of these cool holes in the stage....it happened several times during the show.

Now this wasn't our favorite song...although we love it...it was our VERY favorite set...those Bell's were amazing....When they first popped up out of the stage Emma said I think there is someone in there...but then after Taylor and her two back up singers beat the tar out of them we decided there wasn't...then they raised up into the air...and THEN!!!! These amazing girls dropped out of them!!!! SO COOL!!!!

Now this was OUR favorite!!! Love song....It was beautiful, moving, amazing. She flew all over the arena....so close it was breathtaking.

It was such a great night!!! I am so glad we can be a little spontaneous and create wonderful memories...now let's get to bed...did I mention I am running my first 5K in Lawton tomorrow morning????

Oh Pinterest!!! How I love you!!! Let me count the ways....

Let's start with Baked Fried Cheese...you all know Emma and how she loves her cheese. Fried Cheese is a favorite but we don't have it often...but now...I can use egg role wrappers and bake it in the over...GRACE loved this!!!

Monster Pudding...This was so easy and so cute. We made these to take to Bible study the Thursday night. They were a huge hit. Vanilla pudding, Green food coloring, and crushed oreo's...EASY!!! Thanks to my helpers...Emma, Henry, and Belle.

Homemade Butter Fingers...YUMMY!!! Now this really wasn't from Pinterest but from PlainChicken.com...I have had this as a to do since last Halloween...and let me tell you...THEY ROCK!!!

Emma has been begging to have her friend Haley over ever since McGaha Chili Cook Off.

I was so happy we finally got to make it happen.

We were also still getting to keep Gracie and Belle after school because of Tax Season. I know Tax Season is hard on Laurie and David but the girls and I love all the time we get to spend together.

As soon as we got home we headed outside to play!!!!

At First Alex did not have a happy heart about playing with us. However the girls quickly changed her mind!

Henry couldn't wait to get in on the action.....

I can't hear you!

So the other day Henry got in a little bit of trouble at school for not listening...and for telling the teacher that he couldn't obey because he couldn't hear her because he had rocks in his ears...well Henry can be a little smart alec (sp?) so as funny as that was...he was still in trouble.

Later that evening when we were on our way to Bible study I asked Henry why he wasn't listening. He told me the same thing "Because I have rocks in my ears" I argued with him and told him he had to obey...he said OK but one rock fell out in JoJo's car and I can't get the other one. WHAT!!!!! Ok so he really did have rocks in his ears.

Thank goodness for Dr. J and her mad skills!!! Henry was just perfect for her as she got that old rock out of his ear and he promised to never ever do it again!

As a treat for being so good we got a tour of the clinic and got to see all the animals that were spending the night. It was pretty cool!!!

A few days ago Henry asked if we could make a kite. As most moms would I determined that project fell under dads domain. AKA:pass the buck!

Shad told him sure but not tonight. The next day when Shad picked Henry up from school Henry jumped in the car so excited and said "now dad can we make my kite?". Well I guess he didn't forget!

So when they got home Shad Googled how to make a kite and with a little improvising and some trash digging this is what they came up with.

Only thing missing was the string!!! Henry, I hope you know just how COOL your daddy is!!!

Birthday Surprise

It is official...I am spoiled!!!

My sweet husband. Loves to surprise me...and you know he is getting pretty good at it. I knew we were going to dinner with friends for my birthday but I had no idea he had gotten us this AMAZING Limo.

Dinner was so yummy!!! but the company was the best part....Thank you to my friends for taking time out to come eat with us!!!

Just check out how cool this Limo is...seriously....and the owners are friends of ours...so if you need their number...let us know...WE LOVE YOU DAVID AND KELLY!!!! So glad you guys came in to eat with us!

Although I am not a huge fan we try to take the kids each year to the T/O fair. Shad says if we went to the state fair I would love it!!!

Even still the kids think it is a blast!

I think Alexis was a little disappointed that Emma is such a weiny when it comes to rides.

Emma is loving it. Lexi is tolerating it!

Ok they loved the bumper cars and the fun house of mirrors.

Labor Day Fun

Daddy had planned to go on a MAN trip to Colorado over labor day but when he got his new job he made the decission to go with us on our Labor Day Trip. We knew his new job would be taking alot of time and this was a great opportunity to spend a little more with us before the "missing daddy" begins.

So we loaded up the kiddo's and JoJo and headed to Grapevine.

The idea started on our way home from Florida...Lolly and I decided that while the boys were away we needed to do something fun with the kids. I had just heard about Leggoland from Bobo and about the new aquarium in Grapevine. Done plans made we were going!!!

These girls crack me up!

At dinner we got the cutest balloons...I mean this lady was talented!!! Not all of them survived :(

Henry chose an aligator...isn't it too cute!

Now at our house...if you don't get up..well you don't eat...you don't get to play...and now you get folded up into a couch....LOLOLOLOL!!!! Priceless!!!!

First thing in the morning we headed over to Lego Land. Laurie had done some great research before we left and we have pre-bought our tickets....It was awsome. We walked right past this HUGE line and got right in...PS you need socks.

After we saw how Lego's are made we got to try to save the princess....It was so much fun...but only a one time thing...we really wanted to do it again!!!!

Next was the Harry Potter ride...we all loved that and road it several times.

Now it was time to build our race cars...I really didn't think we would hang out here that long but boy was I wrong..we all really loved it...the girls worked on their cars for over an hour before we started racing them. It was so cool to see their creativity come out!!!

After Lego Land we ate a YUMMY lunch and met up with our cousin Karen before we headed to the Grapevine Aquarium. Ok now seriously this is just across the hall from Lego Land...how cool is that...make sure you buy the passes that include both...You will save some serious bucks!!!

We got there just in time to see Oscar feed the sting rays...it was so cool!!!!

Ok so seriously I went in one of these tunnels with the kiddo's and got trapped with 10 little kids...all running back and forth...tooting up a storm...I thought I might die in there.

After the aquarium we had a little time to shop before we headed to our Dinner/Movie. Of course we headed to the closest Disney store.

Dinner was at the movie theatre...this was all of our first Dinner/Movie experience...and let me just say...AMAZING!!!! We all LOVED it...

Sea Life...we love you and we will definatly be back!!!

Baptism part 2

After Alex came home from camp she was so excited and pumped up about getting baptised. Lance approached us about the church picnic and let us know that they would be doing baptisms and if Alex wanted to get baptised again with her family present she could. Well we just said...no she did it once and that is all that needs be done. She has shown her obedience....but the Alex stepped up and said she really really wanted to. Of course we were thrilled!!!!

Triple Threat

Here we GO!!!

Shad has been training for several months for the Hotter than Hell triple threat. That is a 11.5 mile mountain bike (shad loves the mountain bike trail) on Friday evening. Saturday is the 100 mile Hotter than Hell and then Sunday morning you run a 1/2 marathon on the trail.

This was the most nervous I have ever seen Shad before an event. For days before he planned and thought and thought and planned. Then when Friday came he was cool as a cucumber. Ready to go!!!

This is the final hill up the the finish. Henry, Emma, Libby, and I were cheering all the bikers on. We saw several that's chains popped just coming up this hill and lots that were walking their bikes by the time they got here...but not Shad...he pushed through like a CHAMP!!! No Blood...and only a couple of scrapes. He did tear his Hammer Jersey...but we will get that fixed.

With the mountain bike finished we headed home to get a good nights sleep before the HHH the next morning. Shad was gone by 4:45am...Henry, Emma, and I followed shortly after 5. Shad had shown me the perfect place to park so we could sneak out onto the bridge for the 6am start.

We were so excited when we saw daddy fly by.

After 5 hours and 17 min in the 116 degree (heat index) sun....he finished STRONG!!!

Let's say this was a hard spectator sport as well....we were soaked with sweat!!!! But excited to see our daddy complete his 100 miles.

Shad told me he wasn't sure he could run after that ride (referring to doing a full Iron Man) but I am sure that will change!!!

Here they are...our finishers...Shad road his long practice rides with Kevin and his brother, Timmy! They ROCK'd It Out together. So nice to have a support team.

As soon as we got home we put Shad into an ice bath (sorry no pics...no I have one but Shad wont let me post it) But that wasn't enough...Shad's feet were still hurting...so we did a little more iceing...it HURT!!!! but it worked GREAT!!!

Here we are the next morning waiting for the 1/2 marathon to start.

Henry and Emma were such troopers all weekend supporting our AMAZING Daddy!!!

There was also a 10K and we saw some good friends...Here is Monica and Thana...

and Stephanie and Amber...GIRLS YOU ROCK!!!!

What a beautiful sun rise. Thank you Lord...it was perfect!!!

Here comes daddy on the back stretch...not much left...again...no blood and not to much dirt!!! Shad hooked up with the golf pro from the club for the last 2 miles....they ran it in together.

Here is that same hill one more time. Emma was so proud of her daddy!!!!

So what do you get when you finish the Triple Threat.....I giant piece of wood...no really this is so cool...it is hand made and Shad earned every splinter of it.

Young Ages 3K

So the day has almost come. Time for Henry to start pre-K. We really considered putting him in a 5 day pre-school but JoJo just wasn't ready to give up her time yet. (neither is Henry) So JoJo will be teaching pre-school on her days as well. We have already started with the letter A. (BoBo we could use your lesson plans)

Shad is off for a few days before he starts his new job at WFISD so he got to go to meet the teacher with Henry and I. This was really a time for Henry to talk to Mrs. Kleinart and learn about his new room. Of course the loft was his favorite part!!! We learned where to hang our back pack, which basket has his name on it, where circle time is going to be and how to walk up and down the stairs to the loft.

When we left Henry said "That room was awesome! Wasn't it?" Then for the next couple of days he has told everyone how nice his new teacher is. Thursday will be his first day!

Emma's 1st day at school!

I just can't believe Emma is in the 2nd grade. She was very excited and couldn't wait to get to class. Most kids are excited the first day but Emma talked about going back to school all summer. She liked summer but she really didn't want to be out of school...how many parents can say that?

Meet the Teacher 2nd GRADE!

2nd Grade!!! Wow...I just can't believe it!!! Emma was so excited to make it to meet the teacher. She couldn't wait to see who her teacher was going to be.

Of course she was excited to check out her locker!!!

At her desk there was a form to fill out. She sat down and got to work. Reading all the question on her own and answering them.

I can tell this is going to be a GREAT year!!!

So here she is....Mrs. Montemayor...Emma has had her heart set on getting Mrs. Montemayor for 2nd grade and boy was she EXCITED!!!! Not to mention Libby, Alexis, Kate Christoff, William, Jackson, Bennett, and Clair Hood were all in her class!!!

Rain Rain Come Again!!!

At some point we moved to the equator while I wasn't looking. SERIOUSLY we are on like almost 100 days over 100 degree's...no rain no rain no rain...Our lakes are drying up. Our tanks are completely dry with dead fish and turtles. It so very very sad. We have prayed with the kids at night for God to send us some rain...PLEASE!!!

And then...one evening just as we got home from dinner it happened!!!

The heavens opened....and it poured.

Our kids were so excited. They danced and played and slid and raised their hands in thanks. At first we didn't understand what they were saying...then it finally dawned on us...they were both saying THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

They had seen their prayers answered!!!

Thank you Lord for answering my children's prayers and teaching them the power of prayer.

Twice Blessed!!!

We have been twice blessed this summer. First Emma and now Alex has been called to obedience through baptism.

Before Alex left for camp God put it on my heart that she would decide to be baptized while she was there. So I wasn't surprised when we received the 12:00am phone call from her asking permission.

She just wanted to make sure that we wouldn't be upset not being there. Of course we reassured her that although we wished we could be with her this was her decision and if God was calling her to this then she should go for it.

What a wonderful memory. I am so proud of Alex. She is so brave!

Cousins Coming to Town!!!!

For the past 2 years we have gone to see Mitzi and Tricia (our cousins) and their kiddo's down in south Texas and Louisiana. We have so much fun visiting with them and the kiddo's are in LOVE with each other!!!!

This year Tricia made the long 8 hour drive with her 2 kiddo's and a bun in the oven to see us. We couldn't have been more excited!!!

The girls always pick up just like we lived next door to each other...not like we get to see each other once a year.

They spent time playing while Tricia and I got to catch up (while keeping 1 eye on Caleb and Henry who were tearing it up like only little boys can)

We had a wonderful visit.

Then on Sunday night we all went to JoJo and Big Daddy's for our traditional hamburger night. This is a tradition from my dad and Uncle Kenny's childhood (Tricia and Mitzi's dad) My grandparents always had hamburgers...I think on Saturday nights but we do it on Sunday.

The kids had so much fun swimming and playing. We even put the hose up on the slide so they could try that out. Everyone loved it, even Henry and Caleb.

Big Daddy played in the pool with us the entire time. It was so much FUN!!!

Even though DeDe couldn't join in because of his ACL surgery he still got some snuggles later on.

After a good swim we headed for a quick bath before dinner. Are these not the prettiest little boys...do not be fooled by those beautiful eyes!!!!

On their last day visiting with us we swam again at my house. The heat is so awful here it is the best way to get out the kiddo's energy and stay cool.

After another group bath and shower we settled down with a movie in Anna and Shad's bed. Saying goodbye was so hard. But no worries we are really going to try to get together in the winter...we must make this twice a year now...

Annual Murray/McGaha Summer Lake Trip

Each year we are so lucky to be invited by the Murray Family to their lake house. It is a little piece of paradise really close to home. We talk/eat/swim/tube/and laugh our booties off!

These are two peas in a pod. This cooler made the perfect step upto all the yummy treats on the bar. Learson and Henry camped out here most of them time grazing.

Taleigha and sweet Learson. (this is what it means to have a life long friend in a sorority sister)

Just got off the boat and still all smiles!!!! Henry loved juming into the water off the back of the boat. He didn't want anyone to hold on to him he could swim on his own.

His favorite part was riding the SeaDu.

Emma loved the SeaDu too! Even after she lost a tooth on it.

These are the sweetest two boys every. BJ and Taleigha's nephews took Henry all weekend to play. They really loved on him. SO SWEET!!!

Cooking up a Storm

Emma had a really busy summer. We started with art and drama camp followed by day camp at First Baptist, then MSU basketball camp, Bobo, Kate, June, and Blair came to visit and Scrapbooking Camp. And that was just JUNE. In July we took a family trip to Florida, Emma attended VBS at First United Methodist, we went to the lake with the Murray's and Tricia, Libby, and Caleb came to visit. We finished the summer off with day camp at our church in August. Emma didn't have much down time but we did have a BLAST!!!!

Monkey's 14

Why is 14 so much different than 13. I just don't understand it. Maybe it isn't the age but the fact that Alex is acting so much older, more mature, and more responsible than she was last year at this time. Now don't get to excited we still have a long ways to go but she had really changed this past year. I see great things for high school.

Needless to say Alex is not loving having her picture taken right now. She usually hides from the camera and never shows her teeth/braces. Unless I catch her on the sly.

Lolly made Alex her favorite PinaColada Cake!!! YUMMY!!! The only thing she might have liked better would be buttermilk pie. I guess we'll save that for Thanksgiving this year.

On your birthday you get to pick where we eat out or what we cook. Alex is in love with the tamales from a little shop downtown. Uncle Larry brought them over on Christmas Eve and Alex said that night.."this is what I want for my birthday dinner"

When we asked Alex what she wanted for her birthday she really didn't come up with much.

Fruits of our Labor

Here are the results to all our shell hunting. We found the prettiest shells!!!

After they had been cleaned and bleached we played sea shell bingo to divide them up between the kids.

As I was cleaning the shells I found this little guy....lets just say I LOST it. Alex ran to get Shad as I had a full blown melt down. At first Shad was perplexed....then when he picked up the small, soft carcass...he began to laugh...it was a gulp (fishing bait) HA HA HA Uncle Dede....very funny!!!

Addicted to the Beach

Ok you can say it...our family is addicted to the beach. For the past 2 summers we have gotten to visit our cousins in Louisiana at the beach and we have the best time. This year we turned it into our Big Family Vacation.

After a long 14 hour drive (2 of which were spent on the bridge because of the Blue Angel show-I have never seen SO MANY BOATS) we finally arrived at our AMAZING Beach house.

I took this picture from the 3rd story. This is our back dock. The house sits right on the Sabine. We could fish right out the back door or go to the beach right out the front door. It was perfect.

Here is our CUTE house. 3 bedroom and 2 fold out couches...that is just perfect for the 11 of us. Good thing it had a good washer and dryer...we put it through the ringer with towels, towels, and more towels.

Our days consisted of fishing, breakfast, beach, nap, beach, dinner, and more fishing through out the day. Henry really enjoyed this little boat and DeDe floated with him in it for quite a while...then later Alex claimed it as her's...She had a little trouble making it out past the surf and we all got a real kick out of watching her try over and over again. She finally made it and we would let her float for a while but when the current carried her too far she would have to come in, walk back to us, and start all over.

Alex also really enjoyed snorkeling and looking for shells.. We found TONS...and lots of sand dollar pieces.

This was our first year to boogie board. Gracie had so been looking forward to it for months. The girls took to it in no time and loved "catching the waves" Emma was amazing. I couldn't believe how well she did and never once complained about salt water in her eyes...she is way tougher than her mama.

All the daddy's got in on the action too...even Big Daddy. Now that was fun to watch!!! Even Henry got his turn.

DeDe spent alot of time in the water floating with the boat and giving boogie board lessons...in between fishing. This is a great pic of Big Daddy and his boogie board trip.

Henry of course enjoyed warming up and cuddling with his JoJo on the beach.

Oh and did I mention that our cousins the Musclemans came along on our trip. They stayed really close to us and we got to spend alot of fun time together.

After spending much time fishing and playing on the beach we ALL needed baths and showers to shake off the sand!!! Then we cuddled and loved in our great beach house.

One evening we all ventured out on a Dolphin Cruse. We didn't have much luck with the Dolphins but the boat ride was alot of fun...(except for Belle) Emma and Grace even got to drive the boat during our ride. And although we didn't see dolphins on the cruse we saw them in front of our beach house almost every day.

Another afternoon we visited Fort Pickens. It was a neat and educational place to take the kids. I know Mom you were so proud!!!

Now on to the fishing. This family LOVES to fish...all of us. We would gently tell the girls that we were going to leave at about 5:00am and UP they SPRANG with swim suits on in minutes. They weren't going to miss out.

We caught 1 Red, 1 Mackerel, 2 Sharks, 1 Manta Ray, and countless Croackers and Lady Fish.

There was also alot of jelly fish in the water. Belle got stung 2 times and so did shad. Emma and I got stung once. We learned that we need to carry baby wipes and a bottle of white vinegar with us.

After Belle got stung she and Henry were playing around and she got hit...she said.."Right in the Jelly Fish arm" it was so funny!!!

Emma caught a Manta Ray the first morning and a shark the second morning. She was SO excited. That is until the waves washed the Ray up onto the beach...when that happened she threw the pole at me and ran. Once Big Daddy and Shad reached me...they just looked at each other and said..."so who is getting the hook" Thanks Big Daddy...you did great!!!

Oh and Shad got the hook out of both his and Emma's sharks.

From the dock in the back we fished and caught blue crabs. The kids all enjoyed getting down into the water when the tide was out to find crabs and snails. Can you find the blue crab in the picture above? Shad had a great kung fu fight with him.

We also saw more wild life than you can imagine. This crane was right on our dock and Big Daddy fed him one of our bait fish we had caught. We also saw sand pipers, pelicans, sea gulls, a bird that looked like a toucan but with a smaller bill. We learned alot about ospry and their nests. The kids loved seeing who could find the biggest nest when we were driving out to Fort Pickins.

Big Daddy's Big Catch, Alex and Belle were the bravest down in the Sabine and Henry LOVED fishing with his daddy. By the time we left he could cast his own pole.

Most evening we ate out. Pensacola had a wonderful selection of local restaurants. Although there was always a wait the food was always good. This is Peg Leg Pete's

And we had alot of fun at Flounders!!

Each place was unique and offered a great atmosphere. We don't need much we can make our own fun!!!

Henry liked picking up the shells the best!!

He also had to sleep with his stuffed Monkey (Snuffy TT) every night. He slept in JoJo and Big Daddy's "Big Bed"

One night he had a nite mare about running down the beach and falling. A turtle spit on his finger and then the turtle blew up like a balloon and popped. He told us about it for days.

We played in the sand alot. One evening DeDe built us a replica of the "sea monster" he saw in the Sabine.

We played and played!!!

And played some more!!!

We also found out what an expert Sand Castle builder Shad is. He built 3 really cool sand castles with the kids while we were there.

There was a neat place called Radical Rides that rented Seadoo's by the 1/2 hour. We knew that was for us. Stephanie took Emma and Belle, David took Grace, Carter took Alex, and Shad took Henry or rather Henry took Shad.

After the success with the Seadoo's we decided to try para sailing. It was so much FUN!!! I went with Alex and Emma and David took Belle and Grace. We all loved it. While we were para sailing Shad took Henry back out on a Seadoo. He REALLY LIKE IT ALOT!!!

Our trip could not have been better. I have never had a trip go by that fast. We were there for 7 days and just didn't want to leave. We cooked, played, fished, swam, and enjoyed every minute. Wonderful lifelong memories were made by all of us.

On our trip home we took a small detour to Vicksburg. My parents did the same thing with Laurie and me when we were small. We ate a yummy lunch and toured the Coca Cola Museum.

We even had a Chocolate Coke Float...just like I did years ago. It was a nice break from the trip. Then we drove on to Shreiveport were we spent the evening at the Boardwalk shops. The kids made Build A Bear Smurfs and we rested before the rest of the drive home.

It was a WONDERFUL vacation!!!

Back in the middle part of June I got a wonderful text from my BFF ( I know I am to old to use that term but if it applies to a friend that you have had since birth...I think it is still OK) She asked if we were going to home June 28-30th. YES!!! YES!!! Does that mean you are coming to see me!!!

You see Ashley (who will be referred to as Bobo from now on) is my oldest and dearest friend!!! We have known each other since she was 2 weeks old and I was born. Yep...she is older...and always will be!!! (your wrong Bobo...that is more fun to say now!!!) We haven't lived in the same town since she left for college but time and distance have not affected our relationship. No matter how far or how long it has been...we will always and forever be family.

Exactly 1 year ago Bobo and Mike brought back Kate from China. I have blogged about Kate's story before but just to catch you up Kate is an answer to prayer in the flesh. I have prayed for this baby for years and she holds a very special place in my heart. Just after they returned from China the Milford family moved to Auburn. (Mike is a professor there...ya he is that COOL!)

Auburn is 14 hours away. That is the farthest we have ever been from each other. I had been checking flights weekly because Shad had promised to fly Emma and I to see them...Then I get the text...They are coming!!!!

These kids have only seen each other a hand full of times and they act like they are together all the time. Emma and Blair are 5 months apart and share a special bond just like me and Bobo. I know they will be life long friends.

Henry is used to being surrounded by beautiful girls and fell right into place. Now he can only handle so much girly girl before he had to break out the spider man!!!

What a huge hit is was. Those kids chased each other for a solid hour. Sweating and panting, Laughing and giggling.

Things began to settle down for the evening and Bobo snapped this priceless picture. Henry has fallen in LOVE with June. The 1st night we went out to eat and Henry so wanted to sit by June. We appeased him by letting them sit across from each other. The girls were chatting and playing and Henry kept trying to get in on the conversation. Finally he announced to June that "if a wasp comes June, don't worry I'll kill it" You see to Henry a wasp is the meanest/scariest thing there is! He was declaring his LOVE for June. It was a precious moment.

While Emma was finishing her last day at scrapbooking camp we decided to jump around a bit. We had so much fun...all of us. I must say we were pretty sweaty and hungry by the time we picked Emma up and headed to Gene's...YUMMO!!!!

Alex was in love with Kate...we kinda have a family rivalry to see who she loves the most...

Emma got to catch up on time missed at Gene's. She ate it up!!!

With no time for a nap we decided to get some splashing in. The Milford's had not been introduced to the wonderful Iowa Park Splash park but it didn't take them long to LOVE IT!!!

We also got to met up with my other BFF J and her kiddo's IVey and Riley...notice Alex hogging the baby!!!

Kate took just a minute to warm up but then she was off!

These 2 are 2 peas in a pod! How cool is it that they have only seen each other a handful of times and still feel like they are best friends.

Ever since we attended our cousin Caleb's birthday party at Chuck E Cheese's, Henry has had his heart set on having his birthday there. When the time finally came he could hardly control himself. We were so blessed to have two wonderful family friends from out of town come to make Henry feel super special. Mr. Casey and Lisa and Emma Knight all came!

We played games, ate pizza and cake, sang and danced and played more games. It was everything Henry had been dreaming of!

Our baby boy is 3. I just can't believe it. Time has gone by so fast. I see sweet babies and I miss that so much. But watching Henry grow and learn has brought such wonder and joy to our lives. He is a constant form of entertainment. Not a day goes by that he doesn't keep us in stitches. I mean this kid is funny and when he isn't cracking us up he is loving all over us. He can go from Kung Fu Panda to cuddle bug in a split second.

On the morning of his birthday daddy stayed home a little later so Henry could open his presents.

Cars 2 is a BIG DEAL in our house and it just so happens it came out the week of Henry's birthday. So needless to say we had a Cars filled birthday. Henry has been talking about needing a "boy" sleeping bag since we were gone on vacation and he stayed with Lolly and Dede. He was too happy about this one.

Henry didn't even know who Francesco was at this point but he was still so excited!! These are the coolest Cars...you just shake them and the go. So much fun!

Buzz came to the party too! For Christmas Henry got a Woody doll and a Buzz but the Buzz didn't talk so for the past couple of months Henry has been asking for a talking Buzz...he loved him.

Here is Henry's Big Birthday Present. It was time for Henry to move up to a big boy bed. A few weeks ago we were talking about it and he said "I want a bed that doesn't have on of these" as he pointed to the front of his crib. He wanted a bed that looks like Emma and Alex.

While he didn't get one that looks exactly like theirs he did get a REALLY COOL BED!!!

He was so excited. He is sleeping GREAT and loves his bed. I am so proud of him. He is good about calling for help whenever he wants to get up or down and he will play under his bed until we come looking for him.

It even came with Toy Story sheets.

In true family form we headed to JoJo and Big Daddy's for cake the night of Henry's birthday. JoJo and Big Daddy got him the coolest pirate ship. (we have had so much fun with it) The ship came in this great big box. RayRay, Henry, and Belle couldn't resist climbing in.

Fathers Day should begin with breakfast in bed, but daddy gets up way way to early, even on his day so he can run. On the night before Alex, Emma, and Henry pre-made this YUMMY overnight sticky buns. They made it all by themselves.

Our daddy is the greatest!!! He works hard to make sure he is around all the time and that work and working out don't get in the way of his family time. He always puts others before himself and is an inspiration to so many. We love you with all our hearts daddy.

So getting to the Dominican may be a little tricky (at least for our family it was) but once you are there it is LOVE at first site. It didn't take Shad and I long to figure out exactly where we wanted to be!!!

These beautiful beds line the beach on the Excellence Club side. They are so comfy and offer a great escape from the sun that will fry the skin right off your body...

Our reason for coming to the Dominican with all these wonderful friends was to attend Jacob Muller's wedding to his beautiful bride Sarah

Jacob and his family own baby stores similar to ours in the Houston area. We are apart of the same buying group and over the years have formed a wonderful friendship. We were honored to be included in this special occasion in their lives.

Now for lunch, some speeches and the most amazing solo I have every heard!!!

Lunch was Lobster and Steak...so good and just after we ate the speeches began.

This was the neatest treat of the wedding. Jacob's brother Joffrey is an amazing musician. He has won countless awards. Then there is Angela. She is great friends with Jacob's family. She was both Joffery and Jacob's prom date.

She has been on 3 episodes of 30 Rock and just finished a movie with Dolly Parton and Queen Latifa called Joyful Noise.

Angela sang the most beautiful song for Sarah and Jacob. Let me tell you there was not a dry eye in the house and she received a standing ovation. AMAZING!!!!

1st Dance. So Sweet!!!

The Excellence had 8 wonderful restaurants (we actually liked the French the best) and each night we would meet up with our friends to have a wonderful dinner.

Early on Sunday morning Doug, JoJo, Kenny, April, Shad and I headed out on a deep sea fishing adventure! It started just as soon as the "Truck" pulled up to get us. After an extremely aromatic 45 minute ride we arrived at the boat.

We had a wonderfully calm 3 hour ride before the fish hit. We trolled up to a set of floating trees reminiscent of Cast Away...we looked for Wilson but sorry Tom we couldn't find him. With in seconds the Mahi Mahi were biting. There were so many we could literally see them down in the water. April caught the first one...it was the baby!!!

Next it was Shad's turn...he easily landed the mama!

However, I fought the DADDY!!!

However he did not go quietly into that sweet night. He promptly jumped off the hook and began thrashing around. In the picture above you can see all the blood, me in the fetal position, and the fish flopping around. He jumped into a box full of glass bottles and smashed glass all over the place. He then beat me about the head and leg...but no worries we won!!!

Thanks-Doug, JoJo, Kenny, April and Shad for your valiant efforts to save my life....oh wait...you were ALL taking pictures and video and laughing/screaming hysterically...what has this world come too!!!

After the 1st 3 hours of no bites we decided to take a picture of the bait and pretend it was our catch of the day.....HE HE HE!!!!

After a great morning fishing we came straight back to the resort and jumped in the pools to cool off. That night we laughed and told all our "fish tales" That is especially funny because everyone at this table was on the boat.

On our last night there Jacob and Sarah invited everyone to their room for a fair well party.

This is Anne Elizabeth Muller...there was also another girl in the wedding party with the name Anne Elizabeth...they were both beautiful girls of course!!!

I got my picture with Angela...we got to talk several times over the week and I know one day she will be a super star!

A few weeks ago Emma started asking questions about being baptised. Simple and very well thought out questions. Being that she just turned 7 I tried to keep my answers short and simple. Then I found out that a friend of hers from school came to school and talked about getting baptized. I think that gave Emma the confidence to tell me she was ready.

On the way to our small group one Sunday afternoon she began the conversation with me again. I explained that being baptized is just a simple to other believers that she has asked Jesus into her heart and to clean away all her sins.

Later that night when were were about to say our night time prayers again Emma asked me a few questions...then she got very quiet and finally said.."mama will you help me pray, I am ready" WOW!!! I went and got Shad and we prayed with her. It was an amazing and humbling moment in my life.

I have been blessed to go on many mission trips and help lead children to Christ but I never imagined getting to lead my own child. I am not sure why, it seems that we would be the most logical but still I was so surprised. Thank you Lord for this HUGE blessing.

I called Tessie at church and she told me that Emma could be baptized if she was ready in less than 2 weeks. I asked Emma and after just a quick moment she was defiantly YES!!!

We met with Tessie and made plans.

We were so happy to stand and support Emma, I couldn't be prouder!

JoJo, Big Daddy, Judy, Frank, J, The Son's Family, The Murray's, The Johnson's, The Coopers, and the Matthews were all there to witness.

To our surprise Caroline was also baptised at the same time. It was so nice to share this life changing moment.

After the service Emma chose to eat at Jalapeno Tree. We had a great celebration.

1st Grade Awards

I have blogged a couple of times about how GREAT Emma's 1st grade year has been. It is 100% because of her amazing teacher Mrs. Stevenson. Emma and I thought and thought about what we could give her for the end of the year to let her know just how special she was. Finally it hit us. Mrs. Stevenson has called Emma her sunshine all year long. (Even in text messages that we exchanged) So Emma decided to paint her a picture of sunshine. On the back of her painting she even got to title her work-My Sunshine. On the morning of her awards banquet she gave Mrs. Stevenson her masterpiece. Emma could hardly wait.

At the awards ceremony each student is called to the front and their teacher reads what their classmates had to say about them. Emma's friends said that she was a loyal friend, a good helper, a great artist, and a good reader. You could see the pride in each child's face as their turn came.

What a great looking class.

At the end of the day I snapped a great picture of Emma and Libby. I foresee a long time friendship here.

Kyle, Penelope, Hunter, and Carter are graduating this year. I just can't believe they are that old...Or really that I am that old. I remember when the twins were born (Kyle and Cater) and how COOL I thought it was to have twin cousins.

Kyle and Cater are going to Texas Tech, Hunter is going to Blinn, and Penelope is coming to MSU (YIPEE!)

Stephanie, Wendy, Karen, and Ashley

Stephanie and I are GREAT friends. Karen has been so good to bring Stephanie, Cater, and Kyle to spend time with us each year. Ever since Stephanie was little she started staying with Laurie and I. We have grown into such great friends.

We were so glad to see Wendy and her family again. They moved from WF a few years ago and we miss them so much.

Karen was so gracious to host our BIG Family for a graduation lunch. The boys high school is so big she was only getting 8 tickets to graduation per boy...well that just wont cover it for us so she gave this YUMMY lunch so we could celebrate with them.

Sweet Ashley has grown into a beautiful young teen....Little Tom and Joy are going to have to bar the door!!!

Karen and Stephanie. This is the best mom in the world. I ask her all the time what her secret is. She has raised the most thoughtful, polite, smart, giving children. I am amazed by her!

I foresee years of mischief from these too! Caleb and Henry I've got my eye on you 2.

How funny is this....These 3 crack me up. Caleb (3) Henry (2) and Jacob (5). I can tell they are going to be good buddies. I love that there are so many kids in our family. Everyone has a buddy...

PS...they aren't really playing anything. We were in Kyle's room and they were watching TV. These remotes were in the floor and they all naturally gravitated toward them just to hold. It must be genetic!

Still not playing...but Henry is working hard at it!

Kixie Chicks

This year the Barbies decided they had out grown their name and they became the Kixie Chicks. We also picked up 2 new players, Sadie and Dalaney. They are great additions to our team. We had a great season. The girls played really well and learned alot. Big Thanks to Shad and Meagan for continuing to coach our girls!!!

Good Day Gone Wrong!

Field Day, boy was Emma excited. I promised when I dropped her off that I would be back in just a bit for Field day. I ran to the Dr.'s office because my throat was killing me...and guess what. I had strep. I wasn't feeling badly and I had made a promise, so off I went.

I got there just as Emma's class began the first game, silly relay of dress up. So cute. Mrs. Stevenson was careful to read all the directions at each new game. The kids did a great job of listening and playing well together.

Next was a race with rubber bands around the ankles. SO FUNNY!!!

And then there was the tootsie roll game where we unrolled tootsie rolls with gloves on our hands. Mrs. Stevenson ate Emma's tootsie roll. (So sad I didn't get a pic)

So on to drip drip drop. (like duck duck goose with water) As soon as I saw that William was it I just new Emma was going to get it. And did she ever!!!

Since we were already wet we moved on to Sponge Bob Square Pants fill the buckets.

This was another relay where a Sponge Bob sponge was used to fill up the buckets. Check out those cheerleaders.

Now here is where it gets interesting. Emma was running back to squeeze her sponge when she tripped. Crazy I caught it on the camera. What I didn't catch was that she moved her arms up and landed directly on the back left side of her head.

I heard the most excruciating scream come from my babies mouth. I ran and moved her over to the side. I began to run my fingers through her ponytail to see if she was bleeding. Immediately I found a goose egg the size of 1/2 my fist!!! How could it have come up that fast. I scooped her up and helped her to the nurse. However, the nurse was out so I called Dr. Sultimier. I was told to bring her in right then.

We didn't wait long and by now Emma had calmed down. The bump on her head was still HUGE and she was pasty white. Luckily Shad was home and he and Henry met us at the Dr.'s office. Once examined it was determined that we needed to have a skull x-ray to rule out a fracture.

Emma was nervous at first but held very still just like she was asked too!!!

And so here it is....her beautiful head. You can see in the back a lump...luckily no fracture but the soft tissue was very very swollen. 5 days later and we still have a goose egg but her hair does a good job of covering it up.

Emma thought the x-ray was TOO COOL!!!! We could see her teeth still in the gums...looks like our first set of molars will be pushing through soon. We even got to snap a picture of the x-ray so that Emma could show her classmates!!!

I feel so very blessed that it wasn't worse...Oh and did I mention it was also Shad and My's 11th wedding anniversary...needless to say we canceled the babysitter for that night and stayed in.

Always time for Baseball

Every once in a while we are lucky enough to get invited to go to the Ranchers game with Lolly and DeDe. For the past 10 years one of David's Clients has offered him her season tickets for game and this year we actually got to use them. We found out just hours before we needed to leave and luckily everything fell into place. We always have such a great time and love being together.

I don't think we have changed a bit...HA HA HA!!!

Singing and Dancing

Finally I get to blog about Alex a little. Alex has been so excited about this dance coming up. Every time we have been by the mall she has wanted to go shopping for a dress. Her mom and she found this one and I think she looks AMAZING!!!!

Just before the dance started we met up with her to take a few pictures. For some reason she didn't want us coming into the dance to take pictures. I can't imagine why...I am COOL!!!!

The next day Alex and I texted about the dance and she had a really great time. I am so glad.

In true 13 year old form...Alex forgot to tell us about a concert she had with the ULI choir. I had a prior commitment so Shad, Emma, and Henry went to hear her. She absolutely LOVES choir and they did a great job from what was reported back to me.

Stock Yards

The day after his FULL Marathon, Shad took Henry and Emma to the children's museum while I went to my meeting. They has so much fun!!! Then one of my very best friends Anna came to the hotel to babysit the kids so Shad could go out with me again.

After the GREAT industry party we went with some friends down to the Stock Yards.

The White Elephant actually had a pretty good band and we really enjoyed hanging out with our friends. I think that was the latest we have stayed up in a few years.

We even danced. Shad is the best dancer and we never have the opportunity to dance. I loved it. Thanks for a great night SHAD!!!

You got nothing on me OKC!!!

As you all know my husband is a ROCK STAR..I mean seriously. This is his 20th race. 20...are you kidding me. I couldn't be prouder of him. OKC beat him 2 years ago on his 35th birthday because he had 3 fractured toes but this was the year for revenge. This is his 3rd full Marathon (26.2 miles)and he got a PR (personal record) of 27 minutes. That is CRAZY!!!! It was cold and by mile 7 it was pouring rain. I have started calling Shad the mail man-Come rain, sleet, or snow but in this case a little hail, he will complete his run.

I am so proud of you babe!!!

Now you may think that after this race he just died....but no not Shad we drove to Ft Worth to meet up with my parents and go to the first party of my Conference. He stayed up until 11:00pm. Oh did I mention he got up at 2:00am for the early start so we wouldn't be late. ROCK STAR!!!!

Easter and Family. 2 of my FAVORITE things

I just love Easter. It is such a fun holiday. The kids have so much fun and they both understand why we celebrate...now lets be real...they are very excited about dyeing Easter Eggs and hunting, but they have both at separate time talked about how this is when Jesus died and then came back from the dead to save us. (Emma's is a little more in depth but I am just happy they know why we celebrate)

Easter morning came and the HUNT was on. Emma knows that she gets all the eggs above Henry's reach...and she got after it in a hurry.

Henry, however wanted to pick up and inspect each and every egg. Shake it, talk about it's color, how big it was and so on and so forth. So once Emma had gotten all the eggs out of his reach we called an all out free for all....Henry still took his sweet time.

This year the Easter Bunny even hid a few eggs outside...Emma and Henry thought that was fun but their hands got all muddy and covered in egg dye.

Just like last year our bunny new we would be getting Tons and Tons of candy so he filled our eggs with: Golden Grahams, Life, Cashews, M&M's, yogurt covered raisins, pretzels, and craisens to make our very one trail mix.

After church the family headed to JoJo and Big Daddy's for our traditional Easter Lunch...The big hit in JoJo's Easter Baskets were the light sabers.

It was a fun filled day!!! and as if we hadn't had enough...the daddy's decided they would take the kids on a bike ride.

Caroline, Paige and Lauren Coburn, and Jacob are the best bike riders. Gracie wasn't to far behind them.

I was so proud of Emma...she takes after her mama and is not the most coordinated....this is the first time she has ever ridden in a street...for the past two years she just wasn't that into it at all...but she doesn't want to be left behind...mark my words with her daddy's help she will be riding without training wheels by the end of the summer. DETERMINATION!!

Well and Miss Belle may have struggled but she did great too!!! She may even beat Emma with getting her training wheels off.

We are so blessed to have such a wonderful family that enjoys being together.

On Saturday morning we headed to Colonial for the 1st Annual Easter Egg Drop. Our church dropped 35,000 filled eggs out of a helicoppeter. It was so much fun. You could hardly hold the kids back. We had 1500 people show up. What a GREAT turn out!!!

For as scared as Henry was of Mickey Mouse we LOVE the Easter Bunny...He couldn't wait to climb up next to him and hug his neck.

Later that afternoon after school was out we decided to dye some Easter Eggs. So we invited the family over and had a GREAT time.

After we finished dyeing them it was time to decorate.

The monsters were a HUGE Hit!!!

These eggs were foiled. Lolly's was the best!

These are the eggs we painted and used the spinner on.

And these we used rubber bands on and then dyed twice.

We ended up with almost 5 dozen decorated eggs..Easter Bunny you have got some hiding to do.

Last night JoJo was putting Henry to bed

Henry asked "JoJo are you going to the beach with us this summer?"

JoJo said "yes".

Henry asked " are you going to ride with us?".

JoJo "no Big Daddy and are going to fly"

Henry " But you don't have a cape!"

This kid kills me!!!!!
